Welcome to one of my most lighthearted posts!
I was definitely mildly concerned about cramming five young adult women in a hotel room with only two beds. We would be tired. We would be emotional. We wouldn't know each other very well. (Two of the girls in our room were from the University of Alaska!) And we would be with each other for five days!
As Jesus would have it, all of my worries immediately evaporated. These girls (all four of them) are genuinely four of the kindest people I have had the privilege to know. I truly cherished all of our late night conversations (which usually lasted until about 1 am) and prayers. In particular, when I lost my phone and wallet (yeah, that happened!) these girls all prayed over me and prayed that I'd find them. And it worked, I found them the next day in the lost and found at the convention center!
We got very close in such a short amount of time. By the third night we were already sharing our crushes with one another and that's when you know you are close with your roommates! I miss living with them a ton. And I'm so grateful for the things that they taught me, for the things they entrusted me with, and for how they lived like Jesus while running on less than 5 hours sleep. And that's a feat. So whoever bashes living with a bunch of girls (aka me just a couple of weeks before Urbana), you should try it sometime. You just might like it. A lot.
